Will i miss a lot from mass effect 2 if i do not transfer a save from mass effect 1?

well a while back my xbox broke and i got a ps3 instead. with mass effect 2 coming for ps3, im just wondering if ill miss a lot. does mass effect 2 automatically choose an ending from mass effect 1 for you to play off of?Will i miss a lot from mass effect 2 if i do not transfer a save from mass effect 1?
You do miss a lot of details that make the gameplay experience richer. Some characters you meet in ME1 come back in ME2 to give you sidequests, if you took the time to do their sidequests in ME1.



However, Bioware is releasing Mass Effect Genesis for PS3 (and later for Xbox 360 an PC). Genesis is an interactive comicbook that retells the Mass Effect story and lets you make six of the most important choices in the story. For instance, who lives, your love interest, what you did with the rachni, etc. If you don't use Genesis and start with a new Shepard, the game will pick default choices. These are usually not the best choices.
